To be eligible, candidates must have: A Master’s degree in Hindi, where English is either a compulsory or elective subject, or A Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or A Master’s degree in any subject with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject, or A Master’s degree in any subject with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or A Master’s degree in any subject with both Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, and A recognized diploma or certificate in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or Two years of translation experience from Hindi to English and vice versa in a government office or undertaking. |

Selection Process
The selection process of SSC JHT is divided into two stages, i.e. Paper-1 and Paper-2, followed by Document Verification Process.
- Paper-I (Objective-type):According to the SSC JHT Notification 2024, the Paper-1 computer-based test is divided into two sections.
Section I will consist of 100 General Hindi questions, whereas Section II will consist of 100 General English questions. In each section, there will be 200 questions for a total of 200 marks.
- Paper-II (Descriptive): Candidates who pass Paper I will be shortlisted to take Paper II of the SSC JHT. Paper II is divided into two sections: translation and essay writing.
Exam Pattern
- The examination will consist of two papers. In this section, we are detailing the SSC JHT Exam Pattern for both Paper 1 and Paper 2:-
SSC JHT Paper 1
- Paper I will consist of 200 objective-type multiple-choice questions, totaling 200 marks.
- Candidates must complete Paper-I within 2 hours.
- For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted in SSC JHT Paper 1.
- If the Computer Based Examination is conducted in multiple shifts, the marks will be normalized.
- The questions will assess candidates’ understanding of languages and literature, including the correct use of words, phrases, and idioms, as well as their ability to write accurately and effectively.

SSC JHT Paper 2
- This paper will include two translation passages (one from Hindi to English and one from English to Hindi) and an essay in each language.
- It will test candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write and understand both languages accurately and effectively, in line with the prescribed educational qualifications.
