About This Course
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
- Educational Qualifications:
For Inspector and Sub-Inspector: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
For Assistant Sub-Inspector: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
For Constable: Must have passed the 10th class examination or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Age Limit:
For Inspector and Sub-Inspector: Between 20 and 30 years.
For Assistant Sub-Inspector: Between 18 and 30 years.
For Constable: Between 18 and 27 years.
Age relaxation is provided as per government rules:
SC/ST: 5 years.
OBC: 3 years.
Ex-Servicemen: As per government rules.
- Experience:
For Inspector and Sub-Inspector: At least 2 years of experience in the field of investigation or intelligence work.
For Assistant Sub-Inspector: Experience in the field of investigation or intelligence work is desirable but not mandatory.
For Constable: No prior experience is required.
- Physical Fitness: Candidates must demonstrate excellent physical and mental fitness.
- Background Checks: Candidates must have a clean legal record, free of any criminal background or pending court cases.
Recruitment Pathways
- Direct Recruitment: NIA recruits candidates directly through competitive exams and interviews.
- Deputation: Officers from other government departments, such as the police or armed forces, can be deputed to NIA.

- Written Exam: Objective-type multiple-choice questions covering General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical/Analytical Ability, and English Language.
- Physical Test: Physical endurance and measurement tests to assess the candidate’s physical fitness.
- Interview: Personal interview to evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the role.
