Eligibility Criteria

  • The NIFT age limit for 2025 requires UG program candidates to be under 24 years of age as of August 1, 2024, with a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  • For PG programs, there is no age restriction, offering greater flexibility to applicants regardless of category.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programmes

Passed the Plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

Passed with a minimum of 5 subjects grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system.

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech)

Programme

Passed the Plus 2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics and Mathematics.

A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics and Mathematics.

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a 10+2 system with Physics and Mathematics.

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).

M.Des (Master of Design)

Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India

Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID

M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management)

Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.

Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.

M.FTech (Master of Fashion Technology)

B.FTech. from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)

Bachelor of Design

The candidates who will pass all the three levels: CAT, GAT, and situational test, will get admission in NIFT for B. Des program.

  • CAT (Creative Ability Test)
    • The CAT exam will carry three questions.
    • The pattern of questions will be subjective and based on the drawing topic.
    • The duration will be 180 minutes
    • The total marks is 100 and there is no negative marking.
    • The weightage given is 50%.
  • GAT (General Ability Test)
    • The number of questions will be 100
    • The questions are of objective types.
    • There is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer
    • The total time given is 120 minutes
    • The weightage given is 30%

Master of Design

  • The candidates need to clear a written test of CAT and GAT and qualified candidates will be selected for the group discussion and personal interview. Those who will clear all the three levels will be part of the M.Des program.
