About This Course
The International Science Olympiad (ISO) is a prestigious global competition that tests students’ scientific knowledge and temperament.
Here are some key points about ISO:
- Objective: ISO aims to promote interest in science, challenge bright students worldwide, and compare teaching systems across countries.
- Participants: It’s open to students from grades 1 to 10. There are different levels of difficulty and categories for various age groups.
- Subjects: ISO covers various areas of formal sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences.

- Selection Process: Students are selected through internal National Science Olympiadswithin each participating country.
- The International Science Olympiad (ISO), organized by the Indian Talent Olympiad (ITO), is held twice a year. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the exam dates are:
December 10, 2024
January 23, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the International Science Olympiad (ISO) vary based on the different levels of the competition:
- Level 1:
Open to all students in grades 1 through 10.
No specific prerequisites other than being a student in the specified grade range.
- Level 2:
Available only to students who participated in Level 1.
The top 1,000 ranked students from Level 1, scoring at least 50%, are eligible for Level 2.
- Exception for Grade 1:
Students who placed first in Grade 1 with a score of at least 75% and whose school had at least 100 other students in that grade level may also qualify for Level 2.
- Level 3:
Available only to students who competed in Level 2 and ranked first in their grade levels.
Remember, participating in ISO not only provides an opportunity to showcase scientific knowledge but also helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of science.
Exam Pattern
- The complexity of the question paper varies according to the class. For each class, questions are prepared by understanding their knowledge, ability, and reasoning capacity.
- The syllabus of the Olympiad Exam is refered from the prescribed and updated syllabus of school boards like CBSE, ICSE, State Board and International Board.
- The Olympiad Exam questions are divided into three sections – Section 1 – Subjective, Section 2 – Logical Reasoning, Section 3 – High Order Thinking Section (HOTs).
- This format remains same for Science, Maths, English, General Knowledge, Computer and Social Studies exam for class 1 to class 10.
