Overview
About This Course
- The ISSO (International Social Studies Olympiad) introduced and conducted by SOF is a single-level exam.
- Introduced for the first time in 2021, it will be held for students of classes 3-10.
- Social studies or Social sciences is a field that deals with social human behaviour, the environment, the history and the political sciences.
- The ISSO test will be organized in the respective schools of the participants during school hours.
- The ISSO competition is a test of 60 minutes duration. It will comprise of 35 MCQs (Multiple Choice questions) for classes 3 to 4 and 50 MCQs (Multiple Choice questions) for classes 5 to 10.
Eligibility Criteria
- Class Eligibility: The SOF ICSO is a competition for students in grades 1 to 10. Anyone in this grade range can participate and show off their computer aptitude.
- School Affiliation:The participating school must be affiliated with a certified education board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), or the State Board. This requirement ensures that the participating schools meet the educational standards necessary to provide a suitable academic environment for the students.
- Eligibility for Single-level Olympiad Exam: Students from classes 1 to 10 can take part in the SOF ICSO exam. This exam happens in school during school hours, which is easy for all students to join. It’s a good opportunity for students to show their computer skills.

Syllabus
Syllabus
- The syllabus for International Computer Science Olympiadis divided into three sections for each class starting from class 1st to class 10th.
- This has been done in order to ensure that it is represented in an easy-to- find way. The sub- topics are given strictly according to the class in which the student is and the Mock Testsand Sample Papers are also provided.
- All the Questions are based on Windows 7 and MS Office 2010.
Upto class 5th the Section 1 contains questions related to Patterns, classifications, analogies etc. Class 6 th onwards, it contains questions related to Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Section 2 contains questions related to the topics and sub-topics relevant to the class in which the student is. Some topics which could be found here are Fundamentals of Computers, Hardware, evolution of Computers etc.
Section 3 consists of the questions of Higher Order Thinking. The topics are same as those of Section 2 for each class but the level of the questions gets raised a few notches up. This section should be started only after the previous sections are completed as it tests the students differently.
Class 1
- Section – 1: Patterns, Odd One Out, Measuring Units, Geometrical Shapes, Spatial Understanding, Grouping, Analogy, Ranking Test, Problems based on Figures.
- Section – 2: Introduction to Computers, Parts of Computer, Uses of Computer, Keys and Keyboard, Computer Mouse, Starting and Shutting down the Computer, Introduction to MS-Paint, Latest Developments in the field of IT.
- Section – 3: IT Gadgets, Devices, Apps, Computerization, and other Developments in the Field of IT.
- Section – 4: Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 2 and 3.
- Questions are based on Windows 10.
Class 2

- Section – 4: Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 2 and 3.

- Section – 1: Patterns, Analogy and Classification, Alphabet Test, Coding-Decoding, Ranking Test, Grouping of Figures and Figure Matrix, Mirror Images, Geometrical Shapes, Embedded Figures, Days and Dates & Possible Combinations.
- Section – 2: Fundamentals of Computer, General Information about Computers, Storage Devices, Parts of Computer, Uses of Computer, Input and Output Devices, Introduction to Internet, MS-Paint, Introduction to MS-Word (Opening, Closing, Saving and Printing a Word document, Components of MS-Word window, Editing commands like Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo and Redo, Moving in a document using Home and End Keys).
- Section – 3: IT Gadgets, Devices, Apps, Computerization, and other Developments in the Field of IT.
- Section – 4: Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 2 and 3.
