UPSC MILITARY SERVICES

UNIFORMED GROUP A/PREMIER MILITARY SERVICES

The premier Group A Uniformed service is Indian Police Service which is an “All India Service” and recruited through the Civil Service exam conducted by the UPSC .The details have already been exam conducted by the UPSC. The details have the Civil Service exam conducted by the UPSC. The details have already been discussed in the earlier section. The other examinations conducted by UPSC for recruitment to Uniformed Group A Services and premier Military Uniformed Services are:

1. Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination:

This examination is conducted by UPSC for the recruitment to the post of Assistant Commandants CISF (Central Industrial Security Forces), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), SSB (Sahashtra Seema Bal), ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police) and BSF (Border Security Forces).

Educational Qualification    –           Graduation or equivalent

SCHEME OF THE EXAMINATION

Written Examination

PAPER 1

General Ability and Intelligence (objective type)

250 marks

PAPER 2

Essay, Precise writing and comprehension

150 marks

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL STANDARDS TEST

To be  conducted only of candidates who qualify the written examination

Interview for Personality Test

200 marks

  1. National Defence Academy / Naval Academy Examination

This examination is conducted for the entry level premier posts in Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.  The details have been covered under the subsequent chapter.

Notification                    –                       October- November and April- May

Examination                   –                       April- May and September- October

Age limit                         –                       16.5-19 years

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

For Army Wing of NDA

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern  of school Education, or equivalent.

For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at Naval Academy

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school Education with Physics and Mathematics or equivalent.

Candidates appearing at the 12th Class Examination are also eligible to compete. Such candidates will be required to submit the proof of passing the 12th Class Examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice for the Examination.

Combined Defense Services Examination : It is conducted for recruitment in India Military Academy ,Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and officers’ Training Academy. To ensure Air force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy. To ensure that appropriate candidates are chosen, a comprehensive selection process is adopted by the armed forces through Service Selection is based on the “ trait theory” of leadership which assumes that every leader must have some specific and pre-determined leadership traits.

                   Education Qualification:

IMA & OTA Degree of a recognized university or equivalent

Naval Academy B.sc with Physics &Mathematics or Bachelor of Eng

Air Force Academy B.sc with Physics and /or Mathematics or Bachelor of Eng

Candidates appearing at the degree or equivalent or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete. Such candidates will be required to submit the proof  of passing the requisite qualifying examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice for the Examination.
